My Dear Colleague Ruguthug!
I want to drop you a note before setting out on my grand adventure. I'm about to set off for the planes of Oblivion, the home of the Daedric Princes! I'm excited by the potential opportunities for gleaning magical knowledge from the domains of these nigh-immortal beings and have selected as my first destination the Shivering Isles, home to the Daedric Prince, Sheogorath.
Sheogorath is the Prince of Madness, but he has undoubtedly acquired massive amounts of tomes and artifacts within his realm. Given his nature, I expect he would leave these lying about, without order or organization. Surely, he would not miss a few pages here and there.
The Shivering Isles is a plane reportedly split into two parts, Dementia and Mania, which reflect Sheogorath's divided personality. Mania reflects the brightness of his nature with vibrant colors and mocking breezes. It resembles parts of Vvardenfell with its colorful mushroom trees. Dementia, on the other hand, represents the darker side of Sheogorath's madness, with its somber colors, rotting vegetation, and swampy fens. The border between the two sections apparently shifts according to the Mad Prince's moods, such that these regions have attributes of both parts of the realm. That variable border is my initial goal.
The Shivering Isles features some unique Daedra, the most important being the Dark Seducers, who patrol Dementia, and the Aureal, also called Golden Saints, who maintain order in Mania. The two groups share only their devotion to Sheogorath and their hatred toward each other. I shall be most cautious as I move around their domains.
The question remains as how to access the Shivering Isles, for Lord Sheogorath defends his realm zealously and allows only his mad chosen to enter. Trespassers are often tormented into madness before being destroyed. I believe that the answer to my conundrum lies within the Mages Guild of cities like Wayrest and Daggerfall. Somewhere within those great libraries and hidden archives lay the clues that will allow me to work a spell to grant me access to the Shivering Isles. Then, if I am fortunate enough to evade the Mad One's attention, I should return with both his magical treasures and the knowledge of how to slip into his realm surreptitiously.
I hope your cats are doing well. Wish me good fortune!
