Something Is Eating Our Eyes

Distinguished Molto,

At the opening of the districts, our Clannfear scouts reported a great winged beast patrolling the skies of Sorrow's Friend. Initial reports described feathers as black as pitch and a shadow impossible to distinguish from the gloaming darkness. These qualities made it difficult to confirm the beast's existence.

In pursuit of additional visual confirmation, I have lost two packs of scouts. Of the eight total sent into the district, only one returned. Cylorisk. He was covered in deep gashes from razor sharp talons. I believe what saved him is his size. He was the runt of our forward scouts. As such, he slipped from its claws.

Before returning to the Starlit Plaza, Cylorisk confirmed earlier reports, but with some additional details. The avian beast is quadrupedal, a gryphon, with a neck of tufted plumage and no visible ears. Its eyes are yellow and ringed with crimson red and, most startling, is what happened when it ate the scouts.

It seems their physical bodies did not deteriorate upon death as is normal with our kind. I do not know what this means. I dare not suggest that they died a final death, but I ask that we keep a close eye on the waters of Oblivion and confirm their return as soon as possible.

As such, it is my official recommendation that we do not allow Daedric members of our Thousand Eyes to enter Sorrow's Friend without a mortal aide.

I will return posthaste after I have confirmed the location of the beast's nest.

Scoutmaster Telorith
as transcribed by his mortal aide, Nettlethorn

P.S. I fear the anguished cries of his brethren will hang heavy over Cylorisk. I am certain this goes without saying, but please take care of him.
