…Так аколит Веурнет, дитя меров и людей, юношей прибыл на Балфиеру. Там он узрел творение богов — Адамантиновую башню. Восторженному юноше она показалась истинным чудом. Сияние шпиля отразилось в глазах Веурнета, и он поклялся своей наставнице Нендинеме, что раскроет тайну создания столь удивительного сооружения.
Нендинема лишь улыбнулась и сказала: «Так говорят все юные маги, узревшие башню в утренних лучах солнца. Тебе многому предстоит научиться, юный аколит, прежде чем Ур-Башня откроет тебе свои тайны. Да, эльфы клана Диренни прочно здесь обосновались, но даже мудрейшие из нас не смогли доподлинно установить, для каких целей задумана башня. Это не удалось ни айлейдам, ни двемерам, ни, как я полагаю, драконам».
«Тогда мне следует стремиться к мудрости, никем прежде не постигнутой, — отвечал аколит Веурнет. — Проследуем ко входу, наставница!»
Mathiery: The Tale of a Prentice

… and so it was that Prentice Voernet, son of Mer and Man, came to to Balfiera in his youth. There did he first catch sight of the gods-wrought Adamantine Tower, seeing its full wonder with the eyes of youth. In that moment when the shining spire filled his sight, he swore to his master Nendinema that he would one day unravel the mystery of its making.
At this Nendinema merely smiled. "So think all young mages of talent who see the tower in the morning sun," she replied. "But you have much to learn, young prentice, before the riddles of the Ur-Tower are yours. For though we Direnni have made this place our own, not even the wisest among us have ever learned the reason for its being. Nor the Ayleids, nor the Dwemer, nor even, I deem, the Dragons."
"Then I must set my sight on wisdom such as no one has ever attained," said Prentice Voernet. "Let us go up to the door, master!"
