Tuindoril

A totem of pure horror, carved of pale driftwood and studded with fragments of shell, bone, and scales. At a glance it looks like a coiled tangle of serpents, but every ropy body refuses to resolve into a snake. Instead, this totem looks like a nest of swollen parasites all clinging one to the other.

At the heart of the totem lay a hollowed-out cavity containing the desiccated shell of a louse broodmother, ritually positioned such that its many legs were splayed and fused to the wooden shell. A truly hideous sight.

The interior surface of the totem was endlessly carved with mad whorls. Dense, spiraling grooves that danced when examined. Listening close to the totem, you could hear something. Not a sound exactly, but a pressure. A presence. Chilling.
